Dutton WI by Barbara Walton

Cheshire Show concluded the end of the month where four members of the Dutton WI entered individually and did extremely well. Two stands were also entered and some members gave their time to steward.

Members went to Whitley Open Gardens on June 28 and had a lovely day out. Silk Painting was arranged which 16 members enjoyed and proved to be very popular. On July 7 and 8, 14 members enjoyed a day out to celebrate the centenary year with afternoon tea at Gawsworth Hall.

The July meeting was Members’ Night and was hosted by three members. All present were enlightened on the up and coming young farming industry in our local community. It was very informative, well done to our members. The meeting finished off with a lovely supper. Thank you to A Underdown, B Clucas and J Hardy.

The annual Show on July 18 was once again a huge success. All members were thanked for showing their wonderful skills and especially well done to those members who won.

Members are looking forward to the Garden Party, held by Mrs Julie France on Saturday, August 1 to celebrate locally 100 years of WI.

On Tuesday, August 11 Beryl Priestner will host a pool party, where all can enjoy a swim and members will bring food to share.
