Knutsford Floral Design Club by Win Ross

Chairman Julie Wade welcomed members to the last meeting before the summer break and reminded members to buy their tickets for the Open Evening which will take place on Thursday, September 10 when Chelsea Florist of The Year Laura Leong will be demonstrating.

Julie then introduced the demonstrator for the afternoon, Alison Cooper from Salford with the title 'A Grand Day Out'. Alison produced six wonderfully colourful arrangements, each of which was inspired by an important element of a good day out during the summer. There was a design illustrating a sunburst, and one to represent a rock pool and another inspired by the sea. At the end of Alison's demonstration the stage was a blaze of colour. Club member Diana Jones gave the vote of thanks.

The title of the Members' Competition this month was 'Summer Table Setting' and the winners of the various classes are as follows:

Novice and New Members: No entries this month.

Intermediate: 1. Felicia Dykstra; 2. Lilie Grade; 3. Marilu Knowles.

Advanced: 1. Marilyn Makepeace-Warne; 2. Phyllis Stuffins; 3. Liz Turner.

Premier: 1. Dorothy Monks; 2. Joan Wilkinson; 3. Pat Bannister.

The next meeting will take place at Plumley Village Hall on Wednesday, September 16 when the demonstrator will be Lorraine Simcox of Leek with the title 'All Kinds of Everything'. The title of the members’ competition will be 'Afterglow'. Visitors are welcome at 1.30 for 2.00pm at a charge of £6.00.
