DARNHALL AND WETTENHALL WI by Marjorie Sherry
President Jean Hitchen took the last couple of months’ meetings. Jerusalem was sung and visitors welcomed. Various items of correspondence were read and discussed.
At the May meeting a very interesting discussion was had on the Resolution to be voted on at the AGM in London. Both institute representatives at the two functions in the first week of June were sent with best wishes, and if they met a member of the royal family they could invite them to Darnhall and Wettenhall. Another three members had arranged to take up the invitation to an event organised by Hough WI to see the AGM online.
The speaker at the May meeting was Yvonne Alban who talked about The Eye Hospital, Jerusalem and explained about its work and links with The Order of St John.
Our speaker at the June meeting was Susan Orn who talked to members about The Secrets of Handwriting. A number of members’ script was analysed and some secrets revealed.
The next meeting on the July 7, 2015 will be an Afternoon Tea.
Non members are welcome to come along to any meetings. For more details please ring 01270 528367.
