The November meeting of Cuddington & Sandiway WI was a busy one, as it was also the annual meeting. Business was ably dealt with by President Jenny Friar, and members were informed that the year had been a busy one and that the WI was in a good financial position.
A special thank you was given to Doreen Ellis, who was retiring from her role of treasurer after nine years. Secretary Margaret Dooley, and Pat Betts were also retiring from the committee and they were thanked for their many years of service.
Afterwards, the afternoon was devoted to crafts. There were stalls set up with displays of cards, patchwork, needlecraft, knitting and beadwork, which members could purchase.
The star exhibit was a string of bunting with, among other motifs, the letters of the institute spelled out on each pennant. The bulk of the work had been done by the president, Jenny, and she was applauded for such a professional result.
Everyone then enjoyed making Christmas cards from kits assembled by members Jenny and Margaret. Big boxes of accessories were available to plunder, and a happy buzz filled the hall as ribbons, glitter and glue produced individually designed card.
Christmas lunch will be served at the next meeting on December 11, starting at the earlier time of 1pm.
