PRESIDENT, Bernadette O’Donnell welcomed members and visitors to the annual strawberry and social evening at Little Leigh WI. Get well wishes were expressed to Teresa Morley who is recovering from recent illness.

The May Queen raffle organised by Rose Rowland, mother of WI May Queen Emily raised over £430. Emily, Rose and Emily’s brother Joe drew out the prize winners. Prizes included a cottage for the weekend, a falconry experience, vouchers for Specsavers, haircuts and a voucher for dance lessons at Dancing4Fun. They were thanked for their hard work.

Member’s night on August 6 is an evening of “fun, laughter and chat” at Our Lady of Fatima’s Church Hall, Barnton, 7.30 pm, cost £1.00. The evening includes a beetle drive, wine, tea and cake. Thanks to Brenda Smith and Crissy Watson for organising it.

Brenda showed the centenary bunting that she produced for the WI. Members were delighted and she was thanked for her time and effort.

Bursary winner Barbara Horton showed some of the felting items she had made on a textile and design course at Sir John Deane’s.
