AN UNUSAL gift to buy this Christmas has emerged in the form of a children’s book and a matching bejeweled and precious metal item of its characters.
Jewellery designer and silversmith Adrienne Payne was so inspired by the mice in Cheshire author Michael R Beddard’s books, she decided to immortalize them through her unique designs.
Adrienne, who lives in Winsford, has created a sterling silver mouse-shaped brooch, lapel pin and pendant which can be purchased with the book as a sparkling gift pack.
Author Mike, from Leftwich, said: “It was a real thrill for us when Adrienne produced a prototype of the gem-set brooch.
“It turned out that she had fallen in love with the characters after reading our first book – Lost in the snow – and couldn’t resist transforming them into wearable form.”
Inspired by a plot which revolves around three field mice saving a mid Cheshire village’s May Queen crowning, designer-maker Adrienne has created the items to be sold alongside the book.
The new book, like the first, is set in the village of Beauty Bank – a fictional place made up from Mike’s life-long knowledge of mid Cheshire towns and villages.
These include Davenham, Great Budworth, Sandiway and Whitegate.
The books, framed prints of the illustrations and a variety of gift packs, with or without jewellery, can all be ordered at beautybankpublishing.com.
