OFFICERS for the Environment Agency are investigating a ‘reddish cloud of fog’ following reports from Lostock residents.

A number of townsfolk contacted the public body following concerns about the fog cloud, which one person said had ‘engulfed’ an area from B&Q, down Manchester Road and Griffiths Road and as far as the Morrison’s roundabout, on Friday, January 13.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency confirmed it had been made aware of the issue at about 1pm.

She said: “Officers investigated different emission points locally in and around that area.”

The spokesperson said it had been very foggy and as such, there may have been pockets of fog which were not moving.

She added the emissions that were being put out from businesses would therefore not have been able to be dispersed as usual.

Emission points in the Lostock area are now currently under investigation to check if anything was out of the ordinary on that date and time.
