A WOMAN whose arm was broken when she was attacked by a dog in Kingsmead is appealing to pet owners to keep control of their animals.

Kingsmead woman Larraine Revell was almost pushed into the River Weaver during the attack, which happened when she was enjoying an evening stroll with her daughter.

The 63-year-old said: “The dog made a beeline for me, barking fiercely, and knocked me over.

“I rolled down the riverbank but didn’t fall in, I managed to save myself, but I’ve broken my arm – I was trying to save myself and I felt it go.

“I went down like nine pins and rolled down the bank but it was over me with its paws on my back and shoulders, barking – I keep having flashbacks.

“It was very very upsetting, it was quite a traumatic experience.”

Larraine described the dog as a large chocolate labrador, which was muzzled and also accompanied by a bull terrier.

“It was a large dog, it was muzzled and it was terrifying,” she said.

“You immediately think ‘it’s muzzled for a reason’”

The incident has been made even more upsetting for Larraine as she was looking forward to her son’s wedding in Hampshire on Saturday but a broken arm will make the day difficult.

She said: “I want to make an appeal for people to keep their dogs on leads on that pathway and appeal for anyone who knows that dog to come forward.

“In public places like that they should be on leads, it’s just not fair.”

The incident happened at 7pm on Friday, August 5, on the path along the River Weaver.

Larraine said: “I’ve got over the shock but I’m very upset by it, very frustrated and extremely angry.”

She also wanted to thank a cyclist who stopped and gave her some first aid.

Anyone with any information about the incident should ring Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000.
