STAFF at Barclays Bank, on Gadbrook Park, have packed more than 1,500 shoeboxes full of Christmas gifts for the Link Romania Shoebox Smiles Appeal.
The employees teamed up with family and friends to help fill the boxes with toys, sweets, cuddly toys and products including shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The boxes have been sent to families in Romania, Albania and Moldova, and Donna Wheeler, team leader, is currently in Romania delivering some of the gifts.
She said: “We would really like to thank everybody who helped make this year's event the best ever.
“Our local retailers were brilliant in helping us with shoeboxes and products and it was great to see so many colleagues with friends and family giving up their own time to deliver this fantastic result.”
This is the seventh year Barclays has supported the charity and more than 8,000 of the boxes have been sent abroad.
The team has also organised bag packs and cake and sweet sales to purchase products and pay for the transport to send the boxes overseas.
