A WEAVERHAM Carnival ‘veteran’ has been chosen as this year’s Rose Queen.

Laura Eastwood, 13, from Cuddington has been involved in the carnival for the past seven years and in the has previously taken on the roles of Fairy Queen, Princess and Junior Queen.

This year, the Weaverham High School student will represent the village when she dons the Weaverham Rose Queen crown, on July 10.

She will also be involved in a number of fundraising events throughout the year to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Her mum Nichola Eastwood, who was Rudheath’s Rose Queen in 1983, said Laura loved being involved in the carnival.

Other girls chosen to be involved in the carnival include Paige Lees, who will be Bouquet Bearer, Emily Smithies, who will be Junior Queen and Leah Spence, the Attendant.

Chloe Van Emden, was given the role of Princess, Phoebe Waterhouse, will be the Rosebud and Chloe Waterhouse will be the Fairy Queen.
