VANDALS have destroyed a quiet area by Winsford Flashes for the second time.
Benches were fitted at Rilshaw Meadows to give visitors somewhere to sit. But in Sunday, February 28, one was smashed up and thrown into the flash and another disappeared completely.
This is the second time the benches, which cost more than £1,000, have been vandalised despite the fact they were screwed down and fixed in a cement base.
Winsford Town Council, which paid for the seats, said the matter has been passed to the police. Council clerk Alan Warburton said: “It’s very dispiriting.
Rilshaw Meadows is a beautiful picnic spot within yards of the town centre and the mindless actions of one or two idiots have spoiled things for many visitors.
“The benches cost £1,000 and it’s unlikely they will be replaced.”
