MORE than 7,000 people have paid tribute to a Winsford teenager killed in a car crash.

Seventeen-year-old Alice Worthington, of Swanlow Lane, died when her friend’s Mini One came off the A54 near Kelsall, and overturned at around 9.20pm last Wednesday.

The three girls she was travelling with, including the 18-year-old driver, escaped with only minor injuries as the car came to a stop in woodland.

Three ambulances sped to the scene but Alice suffered a cardiac arrest and died en route to the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Within hours more than 2,000 people had joined a Facebook tribute group to the Sir John Deane’s College and former Leftwich High School student. At the time of going to press, this had risen to 7,282.

Flowers have been pilling up at the crash site near Gresty’s Waste, but her parents are still too upset to comment.

Instead John Deane’s principle Andrew Jones, paid tribute to the A-Level student who was studying sociology, travel and tourism and health and social care.

He said: “Staff and students at Sir John Deane’s College were very distressed to hear of Alice’s death. She was a popular girl with a very cheerful and lively personality. She is a great loss to us all, and our hearts go out to her family.”

Writing on her tribute page, cousin Ellie Grimward said: “I just want you to know I’m always thinking of you, everyone misses you so so much and if i had one wish it would be for you to be back home where you belong.

“Hope you and grandad arn’t having to many parties up there. Sleep tight. I love you always.”

Friend Abi-Leigh Lowry said: “This hurts Alice!

Although you aren't here you still manage to make me smile. But just thinking of you brings tears to my eyes. You're with me forever now, in my thoughts and in my heart. Nobody will ever replace you.

“Keep smiling gorgeous, you're safe now.”

Gareth Perry added: “Life itself takes away the most amazing people from us, but they must be needed somewhere else. Keep smiling and letting us know your watching with that sunshine. Rest in peace beautiful xxxxx”

Schoolfriend Lois Walsh said: “I would give anything for one more morning walking into Leftwich changing rooms and see Al waiting for me.

“She was always there first and me second to have a quick gossip about everything! We’d wait for the rest of the girls to arrive, for all of us to sit chatting with our music on our phones, for us to stand at the mirrors putting far to much make up on, for Miss Wilson to walk in and shout at us for plugging straighteners in, for the bell to go and all of us ignore it. Words cant describe...shine on beautiful ♥ xxx”
