A BIKER is setting off on a 1,900-mile unsupported solo motorcycle ride in aid of a Winnington church.
Paul Wollaston is heading down to Lands End, up to John O’Groats and back to Winnington on his 12-year-old Suzuki Bandit bike to raise money for St Luke’s Church.
The 28-year-old has only been riding since June.
Paul aims to use only A and B roads on his journey, which will start from the church on September 6.
The Rev Carol Seddon, vicar of St Luke’s, said: “What Paul is saying with this sponsored motorcycle ride is that he appreciates the church needs funds for its growth and wants to support it and give it a leg up.
“It says that we are working together as a team for the future of St Luke’s.”
Paul said he plans to ride for seven hours a day and expects to complete his journey in eight days.
He added: “J&S, in Northwich, has helped me with some equipment.
“I’ve had a service down at Soot Hill Motorcycles and my granddad and family have helped.”
Anyone who wants to sponsor Paul should ring Rev Seddon on 01606 74632.
