PLANS for two hotels, a restaurant, offices and shops at Lostock Triangle look set to be approved by the council tomorrow, Thursday.

With the first phase of the business park nearing completion, developers CDP Ltd has applied for planning permission for the next and final phase.

It includes plans for a luxury 120-bedroom, three-storey hotel complete with meeting rooms and a fitness suite, as well as a more basic 80-bedroom hotel.

The companies behind each one are not yet known.

Twenty-two offices and three retail units also feature in the plans, along with a pub/diner.

A spokesman for Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) said as issues such as traffic, pollution, operating hours and noise were dealt with when outline planning permission for the business park was originally granted, councillors need only focus on the actual design.

He said: “The main issues to consider in respect of this proposal relate to the layout of the development proposed, the appearance and scale of the buildings and the impact of the development upon the appearance of the area and residential amenity.”

Chairman of Lostock Parish Council, Clr Shaun Wells, welcomed the news but expressed concerns about taking trade away from the town centre.

He said: “I think it’s great that things are still going on there.

“The hotels are a great idea as they will provide employment and we desperately need a hotel, everything is booked up every night.

“But I am a bit concerned about the shops.

“Shops in the town centre are closing down so is it such a good idea to be opening ones out of town? I don’t know.”

The proposal is recommended for approval by councillors on CWAC’s planning committee, which will meet in Chester tomorrow.
