THE spirit of a Moulton teenager who died suddenly after suffering from leuakaemia will live on forever in a group where he excelled. Liam Sloan, 16, was a member of Moulton Adventure Group where leaders said he had leadership quality.

His parents Simon and Hazel, both 35, of Weaver Road, have raised £1,500 and presented equipment to the group in his memory.

Simon said Liam, a student at the County High School in Leftwich, who also did Dynamo mountain bike racing, had really enjoyed going to the adventure group where he had been a member for eight years.

He said: “He loved it. It gave him discipline.

“He never got into trouble. He was just such a good kid.”

The couple raised the money through Simon’s work JPMoores, Hazel’s work at Next and Pearc Cycles in Ludlow which held a race in Liam’s memory.

The couple presented new white water kayaks with ‘In Memory of Liam Sloan’ on one side and ‘Spirit of Aventure’ on hte other side along with the relevant equipment also a waterproof head cam, with the rest of the money being used for other equipment.

Simon added: “We just wanted to keep his memory alive in any way we could.”

The secretary of the group Andy Wilson said they planned to commemorate Liam by giving a Spirt of Adventure Award each year to commermorate the teen’s spirit.

Andy said: “He emcompassed what the adventure group was all about and was someone who I could have seen running the group in the years ahead.

“He had a cracking sense of humour and always had a smile on his face.

“He had an aura about him.”
