A newly formed group of youngsters from Crewe and Nantwich will make its debut at the world premiere of an international dance performance during the next few days CreweShall - a dance company of eight 11-14 year olds from Sir William Stanier and Malbank High Schools - will be dancing at each of the 10 innovative Station/Stationary performances at Crewe Railway Station from Thursday to Monday.

CreweShall will join over 100 other performers, including professional dancers, other first time performers and local groups of young and mature people from Crewe and the wider region.

The project is directed by dance and video artists Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad of the BodyCartography Project (USA).

The BodyCartography Project and Cheshire Dance have joined together to redefine and explore one of the UK's iconic railway stations - "encouraging audiences and commuters alike to re-engage their sensory curiosity of this regional gateway through performance and installation works," according to director Olive Bieringa.

Fiona Sherwood, Cheshire Dance's dance development artist for Crewe and Nantwich said: "These young people are phenomenal. They have worked incredibly hard during the summer to perfect their contribution and they will undoubtedly bring a whole new dimension to the final performances.

“Working together with the cultural development team at Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council, we hope to raise the profile of the group sufficiently so that the young people involved will get the chance to perform new works at other venues around the area."

The Station/Stationary project has been commissioned through the Cheshire's Year of Gardens Spaces Programme, which is also linked via the various transport gateways to Liverpool's Capital of Culture celebrations this year.

It is also part of the Open Weekend celebrating the launch of the Cultural Olympiad programme.

The CreweShall group meets at Shavington High School every Tuesday from 6-7pm.
