A DELAMERE man had to bring his wedding forward after his future mother-in-law started to lose her sight after being diagnosed with a brain tumour Mark Kennerley, 27, of Hollow Oak Lane, had been due to be married at the end of May but had to bring the wedding forward.

The air traffic controller, a former member of Northwich 146 squadron where he obtained a flying scholarship, had proposed the year before.

But tragedy struck when bride-to-be Suzanne’s mother Elizabeth was diagnosed with a brain tumour which was treated with chemotherapy.

But six months later a scan showed it was growing back and was affecting her sight.

Consultants told her it was pressing on her optic nerve and that steroids would reduce it but it would grow back again.

Suzanne, 32, said: “I wondered if she would be able to see me walk down the aisle.

“Mark and I were beside ourselves and after days of soul searching there seemed to be only one answer and that was to move the wedding forward.

“After that Mark and I were in a frenzy of reorganising.

“It was hard work but it was worth every second.”

She recalled her wedding day.

Suzanne said: “All I could see was mum.

“I headed straight for her and threw my arms around her.

“I hardly noticed poor Mark but he didn’t seem to mind.”

After the wedding Elizabeth fought on but sadly died in July.

Suzanne added: I’m just so glad she saw me walk down the aisle.”
