FIREFIGHTERS were called into action following a car fire on a road near Northwich Station.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Albert Place at around 10am today, Thursday.

A fire service spokesperson said there was a car fire on the road near the junction of Manchester Road, Middlewich Road, Victoria Road and Station Road.

They said a crew battled the blaze after attending in one fire engine from Northwich Fire Station.

A fire service spokesperson said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel water jet to extinguish a car on fire in a residential street."
