NEW homeowners at housing estate in Middlewich will be receiving a special welcome from some of the town's primary schoolchildren.

Enthusiastic pupils from Cledford Primary School have tapped into their creative sides to design 'welcome cards' for a competition launch by Taylor Wimpey Manchester.

The winning designs will be printed and shared with new residents moving to the house builder's Millstream Meadows development off Booth Lane.

Three worthy winners were selected, with year six pupil Maisie Golden taking first place. Year three student Ellie Holland came second, with Rylee Minshull, also year six, in third.

Lucy Wagstaff, vice principal at Cledford Primary School, said: "The children relished the opportunity to use their creative skills when designing the cards.

"We very much hope the new homeowners enjoy seeing the welcome cards as they join our community in Middlewich.

"Thank you to Taylor Wimpey for generously providing the winners’ prizes and for this opportunity."

The winners all received National Book Tokens vouchers, with Maisie securing a £50 voucher and Ellie and Rylee receiving £25 vouchers each for their outstanding entries, allowing them to purchase books from any bookstore in the UK and online.

Sam Evans, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Manchester, said:  “We are thrilled to have taken part in this welcome card competition with Cledford Primary School.

"It's heartening to witness the creativity and enthusiasm of the children and we are proud to contribute to the development of artistic skills within the community and also encourage a love for reading with the National Book Tokens vouchers.

"We’re sure that our residents will love their welcome cards."
