A GLOBAL skincare company has pledged support for an innovative volunteering scheme.

Ego Pharmaceuticals has teamed up with Knutsford Hosts to encourage more people to get involved in events and activities.

Australia’s largest privately-owned dermatological skincare company opened its UK headquarters on Regent Street in Knutsford in 2020.

Melissa Downes, Ego’s office and sales administrator, said: “Being family owned, Ego has traditionally been proud to partner with many great charities and causes that make a difference to local communities.

“Having made the financial investment in Knutsford, the timing is right to show our commitment to the town that has become our business base and UK home.

“Ego was born in Australia but adopted by Knutsford and we can’t wait to become more involved in this great community.”

Knutsford Hosts was launched by Sarah Flannery in 2012, influenced by the Gamesmakers at the London Olympics.

Sarah, founder and chairman of Knutsford Hosts, said: “I thought that Knutsford, with its brilliant community spirit, might be a great place to trial a new approach to community volunteering.

“By pooling our cumulative time, we have contributed more than 20,000 hours of volunteering to Knutsford, supporting just about every local charity, group and activity along the way.”

In 2019, Knutsford Hosts received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of their contribution to the town.

More than 150 hosts now belong to the unique bank of volunteers.

Sarah is ‘thrilled’ to welcome Ego as a corporate member.

Sarah said: “This is such a great example of corporate social responsibility in action and it will add to our fantastic reputation for having an outstanding volunteer base.

“Joining Knutsford Hosts is a win-win for both organisations.

“Through the Hosts, Ego Pharmaceuticals will be able to help promote the whole town and its many events and organisations.

“At the same time, we get more volunteers, we’re absolutely delighted. “It’s a very progressive move on Ego’s part and we’re hoping that more businesses will take their lead.”

Ego Pharmaceuticals has been a leader in skincare backed by science for 70 years.

The company manufactures more than 150 different products.
