MONTHS of disruption are ahead as repair works on a main road gets underway.

The A559 Chester Road in Hartford will be closed on and off for the next ten months, Cheshire West and Chester Council has confirmed.

Various repairs are taking place and as such there will be temporary closures until the end of October.

“Chester Road will not be closed for the entire period between January 8 and 31 October, this is just the time period within which the council will undertake various repairs on this road.

“Initially, pre-patching will take place during March, followed by surface treatment in the summer months, then finally a few short closures may be needed after that for road markings and ironwork.”

It has been a particularly busy week in terms of road closures in Hartford.

Beach Road was closed on Monday (January 22) in order for repairs to take place.

The council has said they were able to “action 12 jobs” during this closure.

Meanwhile, there are on-and-off closures on Firdale Road until February 9.

The council says the exact details will be shared on their website.

Elsewhere, works are taking place on School Lane to refurbish a toucan crossing.

This will require “minimal traffic management”, the council has said.

The council is also planning to refurbish at the junction of Chester Road and The Green in February, followed by the Chester Road and Bradburns Lane junction in March.

These works will require one-way closures, which will last for “a couple of days”.

Schools in the area have warned parents to expect disruption as a result of all the roadworks.

The Grange posted on Facebook "There are a number of active and planned roadworks in Hartford that will affect journeys to school in the next few days."

Hartford Old School House Nursery posted: "As some of you may be aware there are several road works in and around Hartford this week that will affect journeys to and from nursery.

"Please leave plenty of time for drop off and collection this week."
