Drivers are being warned to expect disruption on Cheshire roads later this month as a 545-tonne abnormal load makes its way through the county.

The 88-metre long load will begin its journey in the county on Saturday, January 20, having come from the Talke Interchange at the A500.

It will travel north on the A34 Newcastle Road and Congleton Road North, before heading on Padgbury Lane to link with the A54, stopping at Brereton Heath for the day.

On Sunday, January 21, from 9am, the abnormal load will resume its journey west towards Holmes Chapel, then north via Cranage, before travelling on the B5082 Northwich Road to the A556 near Rudheath.

The vehicle will then travel west on the A556 Chester Road to rejoin with the A54 near Kelsall, by Tarvin Sands.

From 9.30am on Monday, January 22, the abnormal load will head west on the A54, then the A51 towards Chester, before heading on to the A41 north.

It will turn right at the Backford junction towards Ellesmere Port, the turn right on to the A5117 by Little Stanney.

It will then turn left to head on to the M53 north, before reaching its destination just off junction 8 (M53 docks).

The vehicle measures 88 metres in length, is 6.52 metres wide, 5.35 metres tall and 545 tonnes in weight.
