DRIVERS are being warned of ‘severe delays’ after a crash on the M6.

The crash occurred at around 7am on the southbound carriageway between junction18, for Middlewich and Crewe, and junction 17, for Sandbach and Congleton.   

Two lanes remain closed, and traffic is moving at about ten miles per hour, with the backlog stretching as far as junction 19, Tabley Interchange. 

Drivers should expect delays of around 29 minutes above their normal journey time.

The disruption is expected to last until 11.30am.  

A spokesman for National Highways North-West said: “A road traffic collision has occurred on the M6 southbound between junction 18 and 17.

“The incident remains active, but the event is expected to clear between 11.15am and 11:30am.”
