TWO matches involving our area's senior teams have been called off so far today, and some signing news has been confirmed too.

The Norther Premier League West clash between 1874 Northwich and Kidsgrove Athletic at Townfield Lane is off, as is the Winsford United match away to Ashton Athletic at Brocstedes Park in the North West Counties Premier Division.

Both games have been postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Instead, Winsford have arranged a friendly with Lostock Gralam, 3pm kick off at Holmes Chapel Leisure Centre.

An 11.30am pitch inspection took place at Glossop North End for the visit of Witton Albion in the NPL West and the match is declared ON.

As things stand at 11.30am Saturday, these are the remaining league fixtures for our local senior sides, kick-offs 3pm unless stated:

NPL West: Glossop North End v Witton Albion

NWCFL Premier: Northwich Victoria v Wythenshawe Town

NWCFL First Division South: Rocester v Barnton (2pm).

Midweek fixtures:

Tuesday (kick off 7.45pm):

Cheshire Senior Cup: Runcorn Linnets v Winsford United

Wednesday (kick off 7.45pm):

NWCFL Premier: Northwich Victoria v Longridge.

In recruitment news, Witton Albion have re-signed midfield player Jim Lawrie from Hanley Town.

He is available for today's trip to Glossop North End.

Meanwhile, Runcorn Linnets have signed striker Matty Birchall from Northwich Victoria.

Vics are disappointed to have lost his services.

In a Tweet, Birchall said: "Just like to say a massive thankyou to everyone involved at Northwich Vics, loved my time over the last few seasons. It’s a great club, with great people, great staff, great fans, made some unforgettable memories that won’t be forgotten."
