A DRIVER and passengers escaped unhurt after a car caught fire.

Crews were called to a vehicle fire on Peter Street at 2.30pm this afternoon, Wednesday.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The engine compartment was well alight when emergency vehicles turned up.

“All persons were accounted for and the vehicle was made safe.”

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

One fire engine from Northwich attended the incident.
