WITTON Albion head into two mouthwatering games on the back of a 1-0 loss at Runcorn Linnets on bank holiday Monday.

Jon Macken's side host higher-division FC United of Manchester in the FA Cup first qualifying round at the U Lock It Stadium on Saturday and then Northern Premier League West table-toppers Macclesfield on Tuesday.

Ally Brown's 80th-minute strike got the job done for Linnets.

1874 Northwich hope to have key men Mark Jones and Joe Woolley fit for Saturday's home clash with Ramsbottom, before heading to Newcastle Town on Tuesday.

Jones missed Monday's home 0-0 draw with Leek Town, while Woolley departed the action in the first half as a precaution after suffering tightness in his legs.

Harvey Whyte's coolly taken 81st-minute penalty earned Northwich Victoria a 2-1 win at Irlam in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Monday, as they bounced back from their disappointing FA Vase exit on Friday.

A lovely volley from John Black had put them ahead in the eighth minute, while Alfie Walker's curling free-kick levelled matters for Irlam in the 65th minute.

Vics will be looking for more league points when they welcome Kendal Town to the U Lock It Stadium in Wincham on Saturday and then travel to Charnock Richard on Tuesday.

Winsford United suffered a second defeat of the bank holiday weekend when they fell 2-0 at home to West Didsbury and Chorlton.

Ben Elliot (19mins) and Dontai Gabidon (66) did the damage.

Barnton backed up Saturday's 3-0 home win against Rocester with a 4-0 triumph at Maine Road 48 hours later.

Alex Jones (7), Freddy Garbutt (13), Liam Kennington (38) and Harvey Sample (84) did the scoring.

Barnton return to action at Cheadle Town on Saturday and then host Abbey Hey next Wednesday.
