RESIDENTS got the chance to grill a number of groups at a walkabout on the Greenbank estate.

Police officers, PCSOs, representatives from organisers Weaver Vale and the Tenants' Association were on hand to answer people's questions.

Chairman of the Tenants' Association Kevin Rimmer said: "It's a personal touch and we need better lighting and CCTV cameras because once the idiots realise that there are CCTV cameras and there actions could go to court, they'll move on.

"This walkabout is a positive way forward for the area."

Groups met at the shops on Greenbank Lane at 10.00am, which enabled staff and tenants to identify issues during a walk through the neighbourhood.

This lasted about an hour and identified problems including graffiti, grass verges damaged by parking vehicles on them, littering and certain areas which residents say are used to dump rubbish.

There was also an appointment session where residents could speak to Weaver Vale about issues and concerns outside 75 Greenbank from 2pm to 4pm.

Area walkabouts have been introduced as a mechanism to allow increased contact with residents and have proved to be effective in obtaining feedback from a wider cross-section of tenants.

Weaver Vale is the largest registered social landlord in Cheshire, providing 6,500 homes in the Vale Royal area of Cheshire.
