H&M and Patisserie Valerie both appear to have confirmed opening dates at Barons Quay.

The fashion retailer has installed advertising hoardings at its unit, between Asda and River Park, featuring an opening date of October 18.

Meanwhile, cafe chain Patisserie Valerie has added an opening date of November for Barons Quay on its website.

According to the website, the cafe would be sited on the corner unit opposite the entrance to Marks and Spencer.

Cheshire West and Chester Council officially announced in August that toy shop The Entertainer and Sports Direct would be opening at Barons Quay.

It is hoped that both units will open for trading before Christmas, with Sports Direct set to close its Manchester Road retail park store.

Cllr Brian Clarke, cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure at the council, said: "Cheshire West and Chester Council is pleased with the attention Barons Quay is attracting and is in advance talks with several potential new tenants.

"The discussions we are having are commercially sensitive and until contracts are signed we are unable to confirm anything further at this point.

"We are hopeful that we will be able to share more exciting news with you over the coming weeks to add to the growing number of tenants already signed up to Barons Quay, including a fashion retailer, Sports Direct and The Entertainer toy shop."

The Guardian has contacted H&M and Patisserie Valerie for comment.
