A SOCIAL care service in Winsford has been praised by inspectors for the way its staff have created strong bonds with care users.

Winsford Network, based in Grange Lane and run by the Cheshire West and Chester Council-owned company Vivo Care Choices, was visited by an inspector from the Care Quality Commission on June 12, 14 and 15.

The inspector found that the service, which provides care in the form of supported living for people who are elderly or have disabilities, was operating to a ‘good’ standard.

In the report detailing the findings of the inspection, which was published on July 20, the staff were praised for their quality of care.

“People told us they knew most of their staff and had developed positive relationships,” the inspector said.

“People and their relatives said that staff were kind and caring at all times.

“Staff demonstrated a good understanding of the importance of privacy and dignity, and people told us this was respected.

“Activities were available for people to participate in and the management team had developed positive relationships with local community organisations.”

Despite the positive feedback, the inspector pointed out that the service needs to improve its ‘effectiveness’, due to half of the staff having not undergone up-to-date training.

The inspector added: “The registered manager had a good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act.

“Some staff had completed training in this area, however 50 per cent of staff had not received the required training.”
