LUKE Browning enjoyed a weekend he described as ‘flawless’ although he will have to wait before celebrating a double-victory.

The Kingsley racer was first to the finish in both Ginetta Junior Championship races at Oulton Park, his home circuit, during the series’ fourth round.

He led from lights to flag in the first, only to be excluded afterwards after his Richardson Racing-prepared car failed a post-race check by officials.

The team have lodged an appeal against the decision.

Browning struck a kerb during the race, and damage to the car resulted in it losing oil – leaving it short of the required amount.

He said: “It’s a real shame the hard work we put in was unrewarded.

“There was no benefit to us from what happened; it actually slowed me down.”

A strong performance in qualifying saw him again start from pole position in race two on Sunday, and he built a huge advantage of more than 10 seconds to secure victory by the biggest margin in the series for close to three years.

It leaves him, provisionally at least, third in the standings.

“I’ll admit I was feeling a bit angry about what had happened earlier!” said the 16-year-old.

“But I put that into my racing and pushed as hard as I could.

“The car felt great, and the team did a mega job as ever.

“To win by that far showed how quick we were, and it was a good way to bounce back.

“As far as I’m concerned, it was a pretty flawless weekend.

“We were quick in testing, fastest in practice, put the car on pole and led both races all the way through.”

“To win at Oulton Park, my home track, is a fantastic feeling.”

The series resumes at Croft, in North Yorkshire, next weekend.
