YARWOOD Close play area is open following a winter of hard work.

The Castle park has had a complete facelift as part of the town council’s improvement programme, with new swings, a climbing frame, a slide, a ‘nattertube’, a new surface, benches, gates and fencing.

Funding for this project came from the town and borough councils, after the former took over day-to-day control in 2017.

Cllr Andrew Cooper, amenities committee chairman, said: “This is a wonderful little play area that serves this part of Castle, and I’m sure residents will be really pleased to see it transformed.

“By taking the decision to bring these play areas over from CWAC, local people will now be able to take control of the improvements to these facilities.

“This is the first of these play areas to be refurbished – hopefully it will be the first of many.”
