MIKE Amesbury MP visited Weaverham High School to speak to the school council about some of the issues facing young people.
The Weaver Vale MP also chatted to outgoing headteacher David Charlton about some of the issues facing modern education and was given a tour of some of the school’s facilities.
Mr Charlton said: “It was a great opportunity for Weaverham High School Council members to question and challenge their MP on the issues of the day, including Brexit, and his support for the issues facing young people.
“The members of the council did not let Mike Amesbury get off lightly.”
Mike added: “The council were a credit to the school.
“It was quite a grilling and I thoroughly enjoyed it, they put some of the questioning in Westminster to shame with their level of knowledge and insight.
“Whenever I visit schools in Weaver Vale and chat to young people I never fail to be impressed by the passion they have for issues both locally and nationally, it’s extremely impressive and heartening too to see the next generation so engaged.”
