DEMOLITION of all existing buildings on a business park in Winnington has been given the go-ahead.

The ‘outdated’ industrial units at the former Avenue Engineering Park, in Winnington Avenue, will be cleared to make way for a proposed 160-home development, which has been approved subject to agreeing on an affordable housing provision.

An application to clear the site from Pro Investments Limited said: “The buildings are outdated industrial units with ancillary office accommodation constructed in the late 1950/60s.

“The nature of the buildings are such that they are now very dated and do not meet the needs of today’s manufacturing/distribution sectors resulting in the site being left largely vacant.”

Plans for the 160 new homes were provisionally accepted by Cheshire West and Chester Council members last month.

Mark Adams, associate development director from applicant FI Real Estate Management, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for this site, which provides Winnington Business Park with a new lease of life, befitting both market demand and the need for more housing in the local area.

“We will continue to work closely with the council to reach mutual agreement on the quantum of affordable housing provision.”
