A £10,000 Lottery grant has been awarded to help fund a new play area at Norley Road playing fields.

The National Lottery Awards for All grant scheme, part of the Big Lottery Fund, is providing £9,999 to Cuddington Parish Council towards the costs of installing the new play area.

The funding comes after a year of working alongside Groundwork Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside to engage with residents and users of the playing fields, which are already much-loved and well used.

The grant will contribute towards the cost of refurbishing the sand pit and providing new play features for younger children visiting the park as well as paying for new benches, footpaths and fencing.

The work is part of the wider plans to improve the play area utilising a grant from the WREN community fund and S106 funds secured from Cheshire West and Cheshire Council.

Julie Chrimes, Cuddington Parish Council clerk, said: "Some of the equipment on the site is starting to get old and the parish council and the Playing Field Association believe in doing the best for our residents.

“We've recognised that some pieces need refreshing and replacing and with help from our partners we've been lucky enough to be able to make some fantastic changes and improvements – ensuring that the playing fields remain a great attraction for generations to come."

Work on the play area will begin in the New Year and will be completed by the Easter Holidays.
