THE new 24-hour drive thru McDonald’s will open on November 15.

The Manchester Road site, which was formerly Emperor’s Court, will be run by franchisee Michael Thomas who also took charge of the Northwich High Street branch last November.

The father-of-three was allocated the sites by McDonald’s head office after plans were approved to build the new restaurant on March 9, subject to conditions.

The 55-year-old said: “It’s an extremely exciting time.

"It’s been a long journey but I’m delighted to be here and we’ve got a lot of work to do before we open."

Michael revealed that 120 new jobs are being created at the new site.

“We want people to consider a career at McDonald’s.

"The company likes to pride itself on its ability to give back," he said.

“There are a number of courses that employees can go on that can go a long way to helping them become a better and well-rounded person.

“There are also countless stories of progression.

"One of our business managers started here at 16 as a crew member, she’s built herself up and will only continue to move up.”

Michael had previously worked as a franchisee with Pizza Hut in Southampton and has also spent time as a managing director of a bakery in New Jersey.

He has signed a 20-year lease on the franchise and has moved his family to Macclesfield from Northampton.

He added: “I’m definitely here for the long term.

“I’ve moved my family from coast to coast and even had a spell in New Jersey.

"But now it’s time to settle and we’re really looking forward to getting involved with community projects.

“We’ve enjoyed engaging with people in Northwich so far and it’s a really forward thinking town.

“My wife and I feel privileged to be doing this and we want to give something back to the community.”
