THE M6 southbound was closed for eight hours this morning following a horrific crash which killed five people.
The crash happened between junction 15 for Stoke-on-Trent and junction 14 for Stafford at around 4.30am, with police closing all lanes on the southbound carriageway.
Traffic has been backing up past Crewe and Knutsford to junction 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel.
Police reopened the motorway shortly after 12.30pm.
