CHESTERWAY Wacky Warehouse has closed – days after promoting a competition to win a children’s party with Dick and Dom.

Last week, The Chesterway Wacky Warehouse in New Warrington Road announced it has teamed up with the popular CBBC double act as part of a nationwide competition.

Northwich families and friends were asked to nominate children, with an upcoming birthday, and explain in 100 words why they should win the ultimate party.

Ian Walsh, general manager at the Chesterway Wacky Warehouse, said last week: “We would love for a child from Northwich to win this birthday bonanza, so we hope local families and friends get nominating.”

Several days later, the pub closed down.

A spokesman for Greene King, which operates Wacky Warehouse, said: “As a leading pub operator and brewer, we are committed to running high quality community pubs.

“To be able to continue to invest in our estate, from time to time we have to make the difficult decision to sell pubs, and after much consideration, we have decided to put the Chesterway on the market.

“We would still encourage people in the local area to take part in the Many Wacky Returns competition.”
