STARBUCKS will open a new store in Barons Quay, the Guardian can reveal.

The coffee chain confirmed it will open a new store at Barons Quay in spring 2017. The opening will create 20 jobs.

Starbucks joins Asda and Odeon as the only confirmed partners for the scheme.

A Starbucks spokesman said: “We are pleased to announce that we will be opening a new Starbucks store with our franchise partner Café Fortune at Barons Quay, Northwich in spring 2017.

“The new store will bring up to 20 fantastic new job opportunities and great coffee to the local community."

In June a Barons Quay fly-through animation video – produced by Cue Marketing – fuelled speculation on social media as to the identity of the unannounced retailers due to the shops in the video being similar to a number of well-known brands.

Some of the retailers in the video included Saints (All Saints), Warhorse (Warehouse), Pardon (Pandora), Face Fat, (Fat Face), M&H (H&M) and Zera Home (Zara Home).

An image on the Barons Quay website also show a number of retailers including Sport Direkt (Sports Direct), Arsog (Argos), Manga (Mango), L.Samueh (H.Samuel) and Accessorize (Accezzorize).

However, several of businesses have ruled themselves out – at least for the time being.

A spokesman Inditex, which owns for Zara Home, said: “We can confirm that there are no plans for any Inditex brands, including Zara Home, to go into the Northwich Barons Quay development.”

A spokesman for H&M said it has ‘no current plans for expansion in Barons Quay’.

H. Samuel, which currently has a store in Witton Street, said it is unlikely that it will relocate.

Kevin Howard, manager of real estate assets for Signet Jewelers, which own H. Samuel, said: “I can tell you we are not in discussion with the developers here for representation by our H. Samuel fascia.

“We trade happily from our existing store in the town and our performance generally would point toward our staying where we are rather than the considerable investment required to re-site the business.”

Argos, which has a store in Northwich Business Park, also has no plans to open in Barons Quay.

An Argos spokesman said: “We are aware of the development but are not in any discussions for representation.”

Vision Express also ruled themselves out.
