POLICE are seeking the public’s help in catching vandals who went on wrecking sprees in Hartford and Winsford.

Police are appealing for information after vandals ran over the roofs of a Fiesta, Skoda and Mitsubishi parked on The Green in Hartford.

The roofs and windscreen wipers were damaged, and the incident happened in the early hours of Friday, September 30.

Vandals also targeted vehicles parked on The Loont at Winsford.

Overnight on Sunday, October 2 a Renault Clio and two Audi A3s had wing mirrors snapped off, and police are appealing for information into the identity of the offenders.

Shoplifters are being targeted as police seek to tackle the recent increase in theft from shops.

Shoplifting is one of the priorities for action by Northwich Police during October, along with anti-social behaviour, speeding and incidents at pubs.

“In Northwich North we will continue Operation Symmetry in Northwich town centre to increase visibility to reduce anti-social behaviour and open space violent offences,” said Inspector Dave Snasdell.

“We will also be targeting speeding offences in the Wallerscote Road area of Weaverham following recent complaints from residents of speeding vehicles.

“In Northwich South and Winsford we will be increasing patrols in the late evening to reduce public space violence and incidents in licensed premises, and continue to target drug-related offences in Rudheath.

“We will also continue to work with stores to reduce the recent increase in shoplifting offences which have occurred throughout the Local Policing area.”

In Winsford police are to increase patrols in the Leaf Lane play area and Wharton Road area after complaints from residents of anti-social behaviour in the area.

At 6.20am on Sunday, October 2 two offenders broke into hairdressers at Kingsmead Square, Regency Way, Northwich, and were removing property when they were disturbed by a member of the public.

A short time later two offenders, local men aged 28 and 34, were arrested nearby, and were sentenced to 14 days imprisonment by West Cheshire Magistrates Court on October 3.
