FIVE lucky players from Rudheath have each won £25,000 with the People’s Postcode Lottery.
The happy winners, from Farm Road, scooped the Saturday Street Prize after their postcode CW9 7DY was drawn as a winner.
One of the lucky five, Alison Astles, said she was over the moon with her win.
“I thought that I'd maybe won £1,000, so when I realised it was actually £25,000 I was so happy – I’m still in shock,” she said.
“I really love to support animal charities, so that was a huge part of why I chose to sign up with the People’s Postcode Lottery.
"I haven’t really decided what we’ll spend the win on, but I’m sure that a holiday will definitely be a part of it."
John Pickering, another of the Rudheath winners, was also stunned when his cheque was revealed.
He said: “I'm shocked, I'm excited, I'm a bit of everything.
“I've had some ideas about what I might spend the money on, but I don't want to give too many secrets away just yet.
"We'll at least be having a family get together to celebrate the win.”
Three of Alison and John’s neighbours on the same street also received £25,000 prizes.
Street Prize presenter Judie McCourt said: "It was so lovely to meet such a fantastic group of winners – a massive congratulations to all of them.”
More than £142 million has been raised to date by players for more than two thousand good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
A project which players have supported near Rudheath is Deafness Support Network which received more than £10,000 this year for its Deafness and Dementia Café.
To play the People’s Postcode Lottery you pay a £10 monthly subscription.
Your tickets are based on your postcode, you are automatically entered into each draw and there are guaranteed winners every day. A minimum of 30 per cent of the ticket price goes to charities.
