CANCER patient and hobby photographer Alison Hamlin-Hughes has created a range of greetings cards featuring evocative scenes of Marbury Park.

The mother of three from Higher Marston is receiving a course of radiotherapy after undergoing surgery for breast cancer, which was diagnosed in May.

Alison, 53, a network marketing professional, is being treated by The Christie Hospital, and setting up the cards business has given her something to focus on during her treatment.

Alison often sends in her photographs at Marbury Park to the Northwich Guardian, has had a number published and won the Marbury Photo competition twice.

She said: “Since I've been dealing with breast cancer I've created a range of cards, all with my pictures of Marbury, mainly at sunrise. I've set up an online Etsy shop where my cards can be seen - etsy.com/uk/shop/FreeSpiritGreetings.

"I intend to add more in the future, and at the moment have eight designs.

"Marbury Park is my favourite place locally - it's so quiet and has everything I want.

"I would go out for a walk and take my camera with me, and it has gone on from there.

"I take the sunrise photographs at 4.30am in the summer and 7.30am in the winter, and have Christmas ones of snow scenes lined up.

"I'm a very positive person, and although I was shocked when I received the cancer diagnosis I thought 'you can either go downhill or stay positive and laugh it off'.

"My 'thing' is to inspire people to appreciate the beauty that is around us, and to smile in the face of adversity, and setting up the cards business has given me something to think about during my treatment."

Sometimes, when Alison captures a moment at the park, a poem will come to her, and below is one she has written.

‘Beautiful sunrise ~ golden hue, Bathes my soul with sweet renew, Swirling mist gathers, my new day is here, ... I feel only joy, as I let go of fear.

‘I’m in tune with nature, my new journey begins, A feeling of oneness, rises deep from within, I’ve found my way forwards, there is no looking back, My angels have told me, I'm on the right track.

‘So I welcome you here, to my magical world, the pleasure is mine to share, I want you to see the beauty I 'feel', as I walk on our wonderful Earth, What I see through the lens, I feel in my heart, And that my friend......, Is love.’
