PUPILS at Antrobus St Mark’s C of E Primary School have been celebrating their excellent SATs results.

Meryl Phillips, chairman of the school governors, offered her congratulations to the staff in the school’s newsletter.

She said: “Congratulations to all the staff, and especially to the Early Years Foundation Stage team for achieving 100 per cent ‘Good Level of Development’ with our reception cohort, and Mr Hathaway, whose children have gained 100 per cent, achieving the expected year six standard in reading and grammar, punctuation and spelling and 78.6 per cent in maths.

“This is well above the national and Cheshire West figures.

“After three years as our head teacher Mrs Jo Hawkins will be leaving us to take up a post as head teacher of Tattenhall Park Primary School.

“We thank her for all her hard work leading our school and taking it forward under her leadership, and we hope she finds happiness and fulfilment in her new post.”

Mrs Hawkins will be succeeded by Sandra Finney, who will become head teacher from September.

Everyone has been thanked for supporting the Friends of Antrobus School barbecue which followed the sports day.

A total of £686 was raised for school funds, and thanks went to everyone who supported the event and for the generous donations for the popular tombola stall.
