FAMILY and friends celebrated the 100th birthday of Lillian Clara Woolley with a meal at Hartford Golf Club.
Mrs Woolley, nee Adkins, lives in Moulton, and was born in Smethwick on June 8, 1916.
She is the eldest and only surviving sibling of four children, sister Irene and brothers Roy, who emigrated to Canada, and Harold.
She married Richard Woolley in the 1940s. Her husband managed the Benoy’s jewellers shop in Northwich High Street, and became a director of that business.
He was a leading light in the Round Table, the Rotary and the Freemasons, and died some years ago.
Mrs Woolley served in the ATS during The Second World War, and has fond memories of training in Scotland as well as England.
