AN award-winning gospel choir will take centre stage in Northwich later this year.

Hosted by the Christian charity, Under the Mango Tree, Birmingham Community Gospel Choir will perform on Saturday, July 9 at St Helen’s Church.

The choir was founded in 2005 and brings together singers of all ages and backgrounds from across the city of Birmingham.

They were named Gospel Choir of the Year in 2015 and are directed by experienced Singer and Song Writer, Maxine Brooks.

Gordon Atkinson, trustee of Under The Mango Tree, said: “The choir are in demand to leads concerts all over the UK and have been booked for this Northwich date for many months.

“Supporting this fabulous choir will be talented local young musicians.

“These local young musicians are some of the members of the Vale Royal Schools Concert Band and will be conducted by Mairearad Bushnell-Wye

“In addition, Moncrief and Levis a well-known duo who regularly perform in the Cheshire area are contribution to the concert.

“This will be a special opportunity, not only to hear this renowned gospel choir but also to see our local young talent sharing and contributing to such a high profile concert.”

Tickets can also be purchased from Northwich Art Shop and will be on sale in Northwich Information Centre on Thursday, June 16 and Friday July 1 between 10am and 2pm.
