ABBEY College Manchester student Timothy Ray was presented with a prestigious award at a ceremony at Manchester Town Hall.

Timothy, 19, of Blenheim Close, Northwich, received the Resilience Award for never giving up and always trying his best.

The event was a celebration of the accomplishments of the students due to graduate this summer and to look back on highlights throughout the year.

Awards were given to those individuals who produced outstanding achievements in the academic year.

Guest of honour Graham Able, deputy chairman of the Alpha Plus Group, presented the awards and certificates.

Timothy has received offers to study economics at the University of Sheffield and University of Aberdeen.

He said: “Abbey College has truly helped to develop me not only in an educational sense but as a person.

“I am honoured to have been given this award as I have worked hard to achieve the grades I want and need with this help of the teachers here at Abbey College.”

College principal Liz Elam said: “Timothy has shown throughout his time at Abbey College Manchester that he is not willing to take the easy road. He would put in extra effort to achieve great things and we are pleased we were able to watch him succeed.

“I was so pleased so many people came to the event because it was a time to come together and celebrate the hard work and achievements of the students.

“It was a special night, and I wish the class of 2016 the best of luck.”
