TUNES from hundreds of years ago will be brought to energetic life at a concert in Northwich.

Chester-based folk band The Time Bandits will play at Northwich Folk Club's next guest night at the Harlequin Theatre bar on December 4.

The group's repertoire mixes Renaissance and early dance music, particularly tunes from the John Playford collection, with traditional folk tunes and songs and an increasing proportion of music written by themselves.

Central to the band’s philosophy is that early music is not for the museum.

Whether first played 500 hundred years ago, or perhaps a mere hundred years ago, this is living music that should be played and enjoyed with a passion.

The Time Bandits came together for the first time in 2001.

Since then they have recorded four albums, Pepper's Black, released in 2006, Cold Air of Morning, released in 2009, Selfheal, Foxglove and Feverfew, released in 2012, and the latest album Mad Tom of Bedlam and other stories, released in October 2014

The Time Bandits have become regular guests at Northwich Folk Club and will be including a seasonal set of songs and tunes in their performance.

They will be supported by club regulars Tak O’Mitty and the host for the evening will be Dave Ball.

Doors at the Queen Street theatre will open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.

Tickets are £6 or £5 for members.
