A FLOCK of woolly wanderers will find homes in town centre shops throughout the festive season.

The second Great Northwich Sheep Round Up takes place from Saturday, November 28, to December 12.

Visitors are invited to pick up an information sheet from Northwich Library or the information centre, explore the town centre and write the names of the shops where each sheep is spotted on the sheet.

The first 50 sheets returned to the information centre between 10am and noon on December 12 will win a small prize.

The sheep trail has been organised by St Helen's Church to form stronger links between the town and the church.

Gordon Atkinson, from the church, said: "The commercial aspects of Christmas have an increasingly high profile.

"Sheep in shops is just a simple way of connecting the town’s parish church and all the Christmas story events that take place in St Helen's with the wider community.

"The sheep will be in their new temporary homes from Saturday, November 28, and we hope that families will enter into the spirit of tracking them all down.

"Last year most of the independent shops were really keen and pleased to take part, in fact a number wanted to keep the sheep they had homed.

"Lots of families enjoyed looking for them.

"The overall response was very positive hence the repeat event this year."
