FOUR homes are to be built on a garage site in Rudheath after the scheme won planning approval from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The scheme was submitted by Weaver Vale Housing Trust, and will comprise semi-detached, two-bedroom houses off Belmont Road.

The land earmarked for the two-storey houses is owned by the housing trust, is partly vacant, and is home to 16 garages.

The site is bounded by a wooded area with a railway line beyond and terraced and semi-detached houses.

Planners at Cheshire West said the site was located within the urban area of Northwich, and the principle of housing development on brownfield land was considered to be acceptable.

“Having regard to the siting and orientation of the houses and their relationship with existing neighbouring properties it is considered there would be no harm to residential amenity,” said a council report.

“The design of the proposed dwellings is considered acceptable, and the proposals will not impact upon the trees on land to the west subject to a condition relating to protective fencing.

“There will not be a severe impact on the highway network as a result of the proposals.”

The houses will be accessed off Belmont Road, and have been positioned to minimise any overlooking of existing properties at 4 and 6 Belmont Road. Each of the houses will have two car parking spaces.
