A MINI roundabout needs urgent action before someone is seriously injured, according to a concerned Moulton resident.

Margaret Newton, of Beehive Lane, told Moulton Parish Council that the junction of Main Road, Beehive Lane and Jack Lane has caused a number of near misses and needs better signage.

She explained that both she and her neighbour had narrowly avoided bad crashes when driving out of Beehive Lane because of the speed of motorists travelling from Main Road to Jack Lane.

"I want to highlight the dangers of coming out of Beehive Lane," she said.

"People turning left, going straight on or turning right [from Main Road] is a problem for the simple reason that 99 per cent of people coming down Main Road look to the right and straight ahead and don't look to the left, they don't expect to see anyone coming out of Beehive Lane."

She said her neighbour had had an accident here and added: "The same thing happened to me and shook me up so badly I had to pull into the bus stop to gather myself as it was such a close one, and I've been driving for 50 years."

Mrs Newton said the issue had been brought up with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) on a number of occasions over the years.

"I asked the council if a concealed entrance sign could be put up but they said no because it could cause more accidents than it saves," she said.

"They won't do anything with Beehive Lane because it's an unadopted road.

"But some sign needs to be put in because one of us is going to get injured.

"It's only by good luck and by really good management that one of us hasn't been seriously injured."

She said that Beehive Lane residents do look to the right when they approach the roundabout but the speed of traffic from Main Road was a problem.

Cllr Christine Bowie, from Moulton Parish Council, said she was concerned about the impact of site traffic from the new 148-home Bovis development and increased traffic from new residents when the building is complete.

Cllr Allan Aston, parish council chairman, said the issue would be brought up with Bovis and the council would fight for infrastructure money to be spent on improving the junction.
