EVERY dog has its day, and for Howie it was a charity fundraiser at The Slow and Easy Hotel in Lostock Gralam.

Howie is a St Bernard rescue dog, and he and his owner Kirsty Millward won the best in show trophy at a fun dog show at the Manchester Road hotel.

The show was organised by Northwich Vets, and featured six classes, which were judged by dog training and behaviour consultant Denise Hubbard, who also awarded the rosettes and trophy to Kirsty.

“We had more than 50 dogs on the day, and about 20 in each class,” said Northwich Vets receptionist Emma Cooper, who organised the show.

“Despite the rain for the first two hours it was a brilliant day, and we had really good feedback from people,” said Emma.

“People came from Lostock Gralam, Knutsford, Middlewich and as far as Sandbach, and we raised about £1,000 for Erin Hounds and Buster’s Fund, which I’m really happy about.”

The show included a raffle, with the top prize being a one-night stay anywhere in the UK worth up to £250.

“I would like to thank Jacky Beasant for allowing us to have the show at the hotel and her support, and our clients, everyone who donated prizes and came along on the day,” added Emma.

“We are hoping to hold the show again next year – this time in the summer to avoid the rain!”
